Key Meeting of National Economic Council Scheduled Today Under PM Shehbaz Sharif

Islamabad:A crucial meeting of the **National Economic Council (NEC)** has been convened today under the chairmanship of **Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif**, according to sources. The meeting will be attended by the **Chief Ministers of all four provinces**, including representatives from **Gilgit-Baltistan**.
Sources revealed that the meeting will approve the **national development budget** and the **macroeconomic framework** for the upcoming fiscal year.
It is expected that the **national development budget** will be set at around **Rs. 4 trillion**, while approximately **Rs. 1 trillion** will be allocated under the **Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP)**.
Sources further stated that the **Annual Plan Coordination Committee (APCC)** had already approved a **PSDP of Rs. 1000 billion** and proposed a **GDP growth target of 4.2%** for the next fiscal year. Additionally, the APCC approved an **inflation target of 7.5%**.
The NEC will review the targets proposed by the APCC before giving final approval to the development plans.
Previously, the NEC meeting was scheduled for **June 5**, but it has now been brought forward.
