Salaried Class Leads in Tax Contributions with PKR 499 Billion Paid in 11 Months

The salaried class in Pakistan has emerged as the highest contributor to tax payments during the first 11 months of the current fiscal year, surpassing all other sectors.
According to media reports, salaried individuals have paid a total of **PKR 499 billion** in taxes so far, highlighting their critical role in the country’s revenue system.
In comparison, exporters contributed **PKR 96.36 billion**, while the real estate sector paid **PKR 219.68 billion**. Wholesale businesses paid **PKR 22.36 billion**, and the retail sector contributed **PKR 33.30 billion** in taxes.
Despite this substantial contribution, the government has yet to announce a clear plan for providing relief to the salaried class in the upcoming **2025–26 federal budget**, although reports suggest that some considerations are under review.
The data underscores the burden borne by salaried individuals and the growing calls for equitable tax reforms across all sectors of the economy.
