Violent Assault in Karachi’s DHA Sparks Outrage: Influential Man, Accomplices Arrested After Viral Video

Karachi:A brutal incident of violence in **Karachi’s upscale DHA area (Khayaban-e-Ittehad)** has triggered widespread outrage on social media after videos emerged showing a young man being **severely assaulted by an influential individual and his security staff**.

The key accused, identified as **Salman Farooqi**, **CEO of Bionic Films**, allegedly attacked the young man after a **minor accident** involving the victim’s motorcycle and Farooqi’s vehicle. Eyewitnesses reported that **Farooqi and his guard held the victim at gunpoint**, forced him into the car, and **violently assaulted him**, while the victim’s **sisters pleaded for mercy**.

In the viral videos, the young man’s sisters can be seen **begging Farooqi to stop**, even **folding their hands and crying**, but the accused remained unmoved. The sisters reportedly work at a nearby salon and were being picked up by their brother when the incident occurred.

### **Police Action After Social Media Uproar**

Following public outcry and continuous media reporting, **police intensified their investigation**. Karachi Police confirmed the arrest of **Owais Hashmi**, another man visible in the footage participating in the assault. Earlier, **Farooqi’s security guard and driver** had already been detained.

According to **DIG South**, **Salman Farooqi is not affiliated with any government institution**, contrary to his claims at the scene. **Raids were conducted** at his office and residence. His **vehicle has been impounded**, and multiple individuals involved are now in custody.

### **FIR Registered, Legal Action Underway**

A **First Information Report (FIR)** was filed at **Gizri Police Station**, based on the complaint of **eyewitness Muhammad Saleem**, a sales manager at a mobile company. The FIR includes charges of **threatening behavior, assault, and illegal confinement**.

Saleem stated that he witnessed the motorbike slightly collide with Farooqi’s car around **8 PM on Sunday night**, following which **the accused and his security detail began abusing and assaulting the biker**, detaining him unlawfully.

### **Officials Vow Accountability**

**Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar** took notice of the incident and directed **strict legal action**. Law enforcement officials have assured the public that **no one will be treated as above the law**, regardless of social status.

**SSP South** confirmed that the violence captured in the videos is **clear evidence of criminal behavior**, emphasizing that **taking the law into one’s own hands is unacceptable**.

The **DIG South** reiterated that **continuous contact is being made with the victim’s family**, and all necessary support will be provided to ensure **justice is served**.
