Kamran Akmal Warns Babar Azam’s Father: “Stay Within Your Limits”

Lahore: Former Pakistani wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal has publicly advised Babar Azam’s father, Azam Siddique, to “stay within his limits” after a recent social media exchange sparked controversy.
The clash began after Kamran Akmal voiced his support in a podcast for the decision to drop Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan from the T20 International format. Azam Siddique, seemingly displeased by the remarks, responded on social media by sharing an old photo of Kamran with a young Babar Azam and wrote a pointed caption.
He stated, “This child (Babar) never played under your captaincy, but you played under his captaincy and got out on zero while he scored a century that day.” He further quoted renowned Pakistani writer Ashfaq Ahmed, saying, “Speaking behind the backs of successful people is the compulsion of the unsuccessful.” He also shared a Turkish proverb suggesting people should clarify whether they act like Abel or Cain when claiming to be someone’s brother.
In response, Kamran Akmal took to his Instagram story, calling the post “inappropriate” and said, “Every time remaining silent is not an option, especially when false narratives are being spread.” He urged Azam Siddique to think twice before commenting or posting about him without knowing the full facts.
Kamran added, “May Allah grant you more respect and success, but please don’t extend cricket-related opinions into personal agendas. Parents should raise their children in a way that they never feel jealousy. Alhamdulillah, I have represented my country with pride and dignity.”
He concluded with a firm warning: “Next time, choose your words more carefully. Clear boundaries exist, and you have crossed them multiple times. Now stay within your limits.”
It’s worth noting that Babar Azam is the cousin of former cricketers Kamran, Umar, and Adnan Akmal. While all three Akmal brothers have represented Pakistan, the relationship between the two families has reportedly grown strained over time.
