Armed Forces Congratulate Nation on Youm-e-Takbeer, Reaffirm Commitment to Peace Through Deterrence

Rawalpindi:On the occasion of **Youm-e-Takbeer**, the **Armed Forces of Pakistan**, **Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee**, and **Services Chiefs** extended heartfelt **congratulations to the nation**, commemorating the day when Pakistan emerged as a **nuclear power** in 1998.
In an official statement issued by **Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR)**, the military highlighted that **Youm-e-Takbeer** marks the **historic moment** when Pakistan successfully conducted **nuclear tests** in response to India’s nuclear provocation, restoring **strategic balance** in South Asia.
> “Pakistan’s strategic capability is a national trust and a reflection of the nation’s aspirations,” the ISPR stated.
Reaffirming the country’s commitment to **credible minimum deterrence**, the ISPR said that **Pakistan’s nuclear capability is purely defensive in nature** and is a **guarantee of peace** in the region. The doctrine of **credible minimum deterrence**, the statement added, aims to **maintain regional peace and strategic stability**.
The military also **paid tribute to the sacrifices** of scientists, engineers, and the nation that made this milestone possible.
> “Youm-e-Takbeer is a testament to our resolve to defend the sovereignty and integrity of Pakistan,” the ISPR concluded.
Youm-e-Takbeer is observed annually on **May 28** to commemorate Pakistan’s **five successful nuclear tests** conducted in **Chaghi, Balochistan** in 1998, under the leadership of then Prime Minister **Nawaz Sharif**, in response to India’s nuclear tests earlier that month.
The day is marked as a symbol of **national pride, defense preparedness**, and **strategic autonomy**.
