Pakistan Slams Indian PM Modi’s Remarks as “Irresponsible and Provocative

Islamabad:Pakistan has strongly condemned Indian Prime Minister **Narendra Modi’s recent remarks in Gujarat**, calling them **deeply concerning and dangerously provocative** for a region already fraught with tensions.
In a statement issued on Monday, **Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan** criticized the Indian premier for making **election-style remarks** that lacked the **seriousness expected from the leader of a nuclear-armed state**.
> “The hateful and violence-inciting tone of the Indian Prime Minister’s statement is highly alarming,” said the spokesperson. “Such rhetoric is a dangerous precedent in an already volatile region.”
Pakistan expressed regret over what it described as the **declining political maturity and civility** in India’s top leadership. The Foreign Office stated that **such statements violate the core principles of the UN Charter**, which requires member states to resolve disputes through peaceful means.
Shafqat Ali Khan further stated that the comments were a **deliberate attempt to divert international attention** from ongoing **human rights violations in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir**, and from the **manipulation of its demographic makeup**.
> “Pakistan views these remarks as reckless incitement,” he added. “Our contributions to UN peacekeeping missions and global counterterrorism efforts are far more meaningful than irresponsible political posturing.”
He urged India to address **its own rise in extremism**, stating:
> “If extremism is truly a concern for the Indian government, it should look inward.”
The Foreign Office also voiced concerns over the **growing influence of Hindutva ideology**, which it says is fuelling **majoritarian dominance, religious intolerance**, and **systematic marginalization of minorities** in India.
While reaffirming Pakistan’s **commitment to regional peace** based on **mutual respect and sovereign equality**, the Foreign Office warned that any threat to Pakistan’s **security or territorial integrity** will be met with an appropriate response in line with **Article 51 of the UN Charter**, which guarantees the right of self-defense.
Pakistan also appealed to the **international community** to take serious note of **India’s escalating rhetoric**, warning that such statements jeopardize **regional stability and prospects for lasting peace**.
