Sindh Government Launches Crackdown on Transporters Charging Excess Fare Ahead of Eid-ul-Adha

KARACHI: The Sindh government has initiated a strict campaign against transporters who charge excessive fares from passengers ahead of Eid-ul-Adha.
Instructions have been issued to the Inspector General of Police Sindh, all commissioners, deputy commissioners, and senior officials of the transport and traffic police to take immediate action against such practices.
Traffic police authorities emphasized that Eid is a time for families to come together, and no one has the right to exploit the public’s need to travel. They affirmed that exploitation of citizens during festive occasions will not be tolerated.
Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, while speaking on the issue, said thousands of people travel across the province to be with their loved ones during Eid. “Some transporters arbitrarily raise fares during this time, which is an undue burden on ordinary citizens and is simply unacceptable,” he stated.
The campaign aims to ensure fair treatment of passengers and prevent profiteering during the holiday season.
