Field Marshal Asim Munir Praises Pakistani Media’s Role in War with India, Says “Media Fought Alongside Us

Islamabad:Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir lauded the Pakistani media’s role during the recent conflict with India, calling it a source of national pride and declaring that the media “fought the war alongside us.”
The remarks were made on Thursday at a prestigious ceremony held at the **Aiwan-e-Sadr (Presidency)**, where President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif officially conferred the **Baton of Field Marshal** upon Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir.
The event was attended by prominent political and military leaders, including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, members of the federal cabinet, and all service chiefs.
Speaking to senior journalists after the ceremony, Field Marshal Asim Munir said:
> “The media is our pride. You told the world that we only speak the truth. You are our pillar—you fought this war with us.”
**Military Leadership Draws Parallels with Ghazwa-e-Badr**
During discussions held at the Presidency, senior military officials referenced the historic **Ghazwa-e-Badr**, highlighting how 313 Muslims, under the leadership of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), defeated a much larger force with divine support.
They stated that during the recent war with India, **divine assistance** was also evident:
> “Our victory over the enemy was a result of unseen support. We struck in a way that left the enemy speechless and wounded to the extent that it dares not attempt aggression again.”
They further revealed that it was **India that initiated contact through mediators to seek a ceasefire**, underscoring Pakistan’s tactical and strategic advantage during the conflict.
This is the first public acknowledgment by Pakistan’s top leadership of **India’s backchannel outreach for ceasefire**, a development that may have wide-ranging implications in both domestic and regional political discourse.
