High-Level National Security Meeting Under PM Shehbaz Sharif’s Leadership; Military Top Brass in Attendance

Islamabad: A crucial high-level meeting on national security is currently underway at the Prime Minister’s House under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The meeting is being attended by senior civil and military leadership, including federal ministers and key security officials.
According to Express News, the primary focus of the meeting is the current security situation in the country following recent Indian aggression, as well as the formulation of a strategic response.
Former Prime Minister and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif has also arrived at the PM House to take part in the discussions.
The development comes amid escalating tensions as multiple Indian drones were shot down over various regions of Pakistan including Punjab and Sindh. Reports confirm drone incursions and explosions in cities such as Gujranwala, Lahore, Ghotki, and Malir in Karachi. The drones reportedly included the Israeli-made Heron MK 2, capable of flying at an altitude of 35,000 feet.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated during a media briefing that India attempted another incursion during the night of May 7 and 8, during which Pakistan shot down 25 drones. Four Pakistani soldiers sustained injuries during the attacks.
The ISPR further confirmed that the Indian military violated Pakistan’s airspace once again, terming it an act of blatant aggression. The meeting chaired by the Prime Minister is expected to conclude with key decisions on national defense and regional stability.
