PTI Urges National Unity Amid Indo-Pak Tensions, Demands Imran Khan’s Release

Islamabad: Amid rising tensions between Pakistan and India following recent hostilities, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has once again demanded the release of its founder, Imran Khan, in the name of national unity. Speaking in the National Assembly, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan emphasized that India made a grave mistake by attacking Pakistan and praised the swift response by the Pakistan Air Force, which he said inflicted “irreparable damage” on the adversary.
“Politics has taken a backseat today; Pakistan is at the forefront,” Barrister Gohar stated. “If Indian political leadership can unite during a crisis, why can’t we do the same? It’s time for the Pakistani leadership to come together.”
Referring to PTI’s presence in the Parliament despite political marginalization, he said, “We were pushed against the wall, yet we are here today. We welcome the Prime Minister’s offer for dialogue and demand the immediate release of political prisoners, including Imran Khan, and a fair trial for all.”
He recalled Imran Khan’s 2019 statement promising swift retaliation against any Indian aggression, asserting that the response to India’s recent hostility aligns with that policy. “We condemned the Pulwama attack, yet India never even acknowledged the Jafar Express bombing. Politics is not a one-sided game.”
PTI leader Zartaj Gul also addressed the assembly, saying, “If Rahul Gandhi can visit Modi for national interest, then Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Bilawal Bhutto, and Maulana Fazlur Rehman must visit Imran Khan. We have shown a big heart, now it’s your turn.”
She urged the government to call an All Parties Conference (APC) and include Imran Khan to demonstrate unity against external threats. She further recommended that Pakistan take the issue to international forums like the United Nations and the International Court of Justice.
