Bushra Ansari Criticizes Javed Akhtar Over Anti-Pakistan Remarks Following Pahalgam Attack

Lahore:Renowned Pakistani actress **Bushra Ansari** has sharply criticized Indian lyricist and screenwriter **Javed Akhtar** for his recent anti-Pakistan comments in the aftermath of the **Pahalgam terrorist attack**, which killed 26 people on April 22. Speaking during a recent trip abroad, Bushra Ansari condemned Javed Akhtar’s remarks and suggested he should refrain from making divisive political statements.

Without naming Akhtar directly, Bushra said:

> “Our so-called writers… they just need an excuse. He couldn’t even find a place to rent in Bombay back in the day. And now, for relevance, he keeps making these outrageous statements. Have some shame! You have only a few hours left in your life, and you’re still talking nonsense.”

She went on to compare Akhtar with veteran actor **Naseeruddin Shah**, who, according to her, maintains dignity by staying silent on such sensitive issues.

> “Naseeruddin Shah is quiet. Others are too. Everyone doesn’t need to air what’s in their heart,” she remarked.

Bushra emphasized that her experience with Indian citizens was positive, stating:

> “I met Indian girls recently and they were so loving. The people aren’t bad—it’s the system that incites them.”

Akhtar had earlier stirred controversy by urging the Indian government to take stronger action against Pakistan following the **Pahalgam attack**, saying that cross-border fireworks would not suffice and that a **“solid response”** was required. He further made a pointed remark targeting Pakistan’s military leadership, questioning the rhetoric used by what he termed the “mad army chief.”

Bushra’s comments have reignited debates on both sides of the border, with many praising her for calling out what they see as Akhtar’s “habitual targeting” of Pakistan, especially in the absence of concrete evidence.

### Background:

The Pahalgam attack in Jammu & Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives, was immediately blamed on Pakistan by Indian officials, despite a lack of publicly presented evidence. Tensions between the two nations continue to simmer, with public figures and artists often caught in the political crossfire.
