Chashma Nuclear Power Plant Unit-1 Sets New National Record with 400 Days of Continuous Operation

Islamabad: In a historic milestone, Chashma Nuclear Power Plant Unit-1 has set a new national record by operating continuously for 400 days — a first in Pakistan’s history. According to a statement released by the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), the achievement is credited to the dedication and expertise of the Commission’s scientists, engineers, and technicians.
Previously, Chashma Nuclear Power Plant Units 2 and 4 had each set records with 365 days of uninterrupted operation. The continuous and stable performance of these units highlights the reliability of Pakistan’s nuclear power infrastructure.
PAEC currently operates six nuclear power plants that collectively produce 3,530 megawatts of electricity. The Commission remains committed to contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through clean and reliable energy solutions.
