India Caught in Its Own Trap Over Pahalgam Incident, Says Defence Minister Khawaja Asif

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has fallen into the very trap he set with the Pahalgam incident, calling for international investigation to uncover the truth.

In an interview with a private TV channel, Khawaja Asif stated that if India is truthful, it should allow the international community to conduct a transparent investigation into the Pahalgam incident. He also confirmed that Pakistan will approach the World Bank over India’s attempt to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty.

“Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has already offered India a fair probe into the Pahalgam incident. In the coming days, this drama will be fully exposed,” Asif asserted.

He accused India of being involved in terrorism on a global scale, referring to the assassination of a Sikh leader in Canada and an attempted killing of another in the United States. He added that India is actively supporting terrorist groups like the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), with credible evidence in Pakistan’s possession.

“If India commits any act of aggression, it will be met with a fitting and forceful response,” said Asif. He recalled that India had previously blamed Pakistan for the Pulwama attack but failed to provide concrete evidence.

Commenting on regional instability, Asif added, “Had Pakistan not become involved in the Soviet-Afghan war and post-9/11 conflicts, we would not be facing terrorism on our soil today.”

He also criticized India for weaponizing water, stating that under international agreements, India cannot release river water without prior notice. “Water is being used as a weapon, and that’s unacceptable,” he said.
