Imran Khan’s Sister Aliema Khan Voices Anger Over Repeated Barricades to Family and Party Leaders’ Visit at Adiala Jail

Rawalpindi: Aliema Khan, the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, expressed her frustration over the continuous barriers to her and other family members’ attempts to meet the former Prime Minister at Adiala Jail. Speaking to the media, she stated that the family members had come to meet Imran Khan, emphasizing that anyone not invited by him for the meeting was not expected to come. She said, *“If we are not allowed to meet him today, I will sit right here outside the jail.”*
Aliema Khan, along with other members of the PTI leader’s family, arrived at Adiala Jail for a scheduled meeting with Imran Khan. Meanwhile, PTI’s Secretary General, Salman Akram Raja, submitted a list of party leaders expected to meet the former Prime Minister, which included prominent figures such as Leader of the Opposition Umar Ayub, Shibli Faraz, and Sahibzada Hamid Raza, among others.
In the meeting list, notable names like Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, Ahmed Khan Bachhar, and Zartaj Gul were also included. It was reported that the family of Imran Khan, including his sisters, arrived at the jail for the meeting despite facing multiple obstacles along the way.
This comes just two days after the family faced another hurdle when three of Imran Khan’s sisters and cousin Qasim Khan were stopped by the police from proceeding further towards Adiala Jail. The police had blocked their route at the Gorakhpur checkpoint. Even though they tried to move forward to meet Imran Khan, they were not allowed to continue, and Aliema Khan was seen sitting on the footpath in protest.
In addition to Aliema Khan, a number of PTI leaders and family members, including legal representatives such as Faisal Chaudhry Advocate, were also seen outside Adiala Jail, attempting to meet the former Prime Minister. Among those arriving were Bushra Bibi’s family members, including Mehrun Nisa Ahmed, and Bushra Bibi’s focal person, Advocate Raye Salman Kharal. Lawyers like Salman Safdar Advocate also made their presence known at the scene.
Meanwhile, PTI’s Secretary General, Salman Akram Raja, was reportedly stopped by the police when he tried to proceed towards the jail. Similarly, Naeem Banjhota was also stopped at a checkpoint. Aliema Khan expressed her anger by saying, *“We are being stopped once again today, and this is simply unacceptable.”*
The continued barriers to family visits at Adiala Jail have drawn attention to the ongoing tensions surrounding Imran Khan’s imprisonment and the restrictions placed on his family and party members.
