Pakistan Proposes Rs 2,281 Billion Defence Budget for FY 2025, Marking 7.49% Increase

Islamabad: The federal government has proposed an estimated Rs 2,281 billion for the defence budget in the upcoming fiscal year 2024-25, reflecting a 7.49% increase from the current fiscal year’s allocation.
According to sources, this marks an increase of Rs 159 billion over the existing allocation. The current fiscal year (2024-25) has already seen a significant rise, with Rs 2,122 billion allocated—14.16% more than the previous year’s Rs 1,858.8 billion.
This year-on-year increase of Rs 263.2 billion in defence spending highlights the government’s continued focus on national security amid evolving regional and global challenges.
