Supreme Court Schedules Hearings on Senate Chairman Vote Verification and State Machinery in Terrorism Cases

Islamabad:The Supreme Court of Pakistan has scheduled hearings for two significant constitutional cases on **April 14**, both to be heard by a **five-member larger bench** headed by **Justice Aminuddin Khan**.

### 1. **Senate Chairman Election Vote Verification Case**
The first case pertains to the **2021 Senate Chairman elections**, in which **Sadiq Sanjrani defeated Yousaf Raza Gillani**. Gillani had challenged the **rejection of seven votes** that were declared invalid during the election. His initial plea was dismissed by the **Islamabad High Court**, prompting him to file an **appeal in the Supreme Court**, which is now set for hearing.

### 2. **Use of State Machinery in Acts of Terrorism**
The second case relates to allegations of **state machinery being used in acts of terrorism**. Filed by a citizen named **Afshin Afzal in 2022**, the petition accuses authorities of misusing state apparatus in incidents related to terrorism. This case has also been scheduled for **April 14**, before the same constitutional bench.

Both cases are expected to have far-reaching implications for electoral transparency and accountability in state institutions.
