Furthermore, the house of Muhammad Zubair Khan Wazir, Member of the National Assembly from NA-42 South Waziristan Upper and Lower, was surrounded by unknown persons for several hours. Family members present in the house were taken hostage. A heavy contingent of police raided his house again and arrested him after an exchange of fire.
These actions against the elected representatives of the people are a serious attack on democratic traditions, parliamentary privilege, and the rule of law.
Targeting sitting ministers and an MNA and taking their families hostage is unacceptable in any civilized society.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf demands that all police officers involved in these illegal raids be immediately identified and action be taken against them. The provincial government should form a complete and impartial inquiry to ascertain the facts, expose those behind these raids, and bring the responsible persons to the dock of justice.
The concerned authorities must immediately ensure the safety, dignity, and well-being of the families of the affected representatives. PTI further appeals to the relevant institutions to act in accordance with the Constitution and law and to avoid the use of force and threats against elected representatives and their families.
