PM Shahbaz Sharif Invites US Companies to Invest in Pakistan’s Mineral Sector

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif met with senior US Department of State official Eric Meyer, where they discussed investment opportunities in Pakistan’s mineral sector. During the meeting, the Prime Minister extended an invitation to US companies to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan’s vast mineral resources, highlighting the country’s immense potential in this field.

The meeting was held in Islamabad, where Eric Meyer, Senior Bureau Official and Acting Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, led the US delegation. This delegation is visiting Pakistan to participate in the Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum.

Prime Minister Sharif welcomed the participation of US companies in the forum and stressed that Pakistan’s mineral sector holds significant potential, encouraging US companies to take advantage of investment opportunities in this priority sector.

In the context of bilateral relations and regional peace, PM Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s desire to strengthen its ties with the United States, particularly through cooperation with the Trump administration. He underscored the importance of increasing collaboration in trade, investment, counterterrorism, and other areas of mutual interest.

Eric Meyer congratulated Pakistan on the successful organization of the Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum and acknowledged the vast potential in Pakistan’s mineral sector. He also expressed interest from US companies in investing in this field and reaffirmed America’s commitment to furthering bilateral relations with Pakistan.

**Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Discusses Counterterrorism Cooperation with US Delegation**

In a separate meeting, Federal Minister for Interior, Mohsin Naqvi, met with Eric Meyer, the senior US Department of State official, who is heading a delegation visiting Pakistan. The discussions focused on enhancing Pakistan-US relations, mutual interests, and bilateral cooperation. The conversation also addressed increasing cooperation in counterterrorism, smuggling, and drug control.

Eric Meyer condemned the terrorist attack on the Jaffer Express and expressed condolences for the loss of life. He also thanked Pakistan for its cooperation in capturing the wanted terrorist, Sharifullah.

Minister Naqvi highlighted that the upcoming joint Counterterrorism Dialogue in June would be crucial for further strengthening cooperation in the fight against terrorism. He emphasized that terrorism is not just Pakistan’s issue but a global concern, stressing that international cooperation is vital for its eradication.

Minister Naqvi also highlighted the immense investment opportunities available to US companies through the Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum and noted that the visit of the US delegation would be an important milestone in fostering greater collaboration.

Eric Meyer expressed interest in the opportunities provided through the Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum 2025. The meeting was attended by Acting US Ambassador Natalie Baker, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, and Secretary of the Interior Khurram Agha.
