Mahmood Khan Achakzai Stresses Constitutional Rights for Baloch, Pashtuns, and Sindhis in National Assembly Speech

Islamabad:Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Chairman of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party and leader of the Movement for the Protection of the Constitution of Pakistan, delivered a passionate speech in the National Assembly, calling for the constitutional rights of Baloch, Pashtuns, Sindhis, and other ethnic groups in the country. Achakzai emphasized that the natural resources of regions like Balochistan should primarily benefit the local communities and not be exploited by external forces.

He stated that the growing violence and insurgency in Balochistan, as well as other parts of the country, could only be resolved through the full implementation of the constitution and ensuring that the parliament is the ultimate source of power. He also criticized the current state of Pakistan’s democracy, pointing out that the majority of the lawmakers present in the assembly lacked genuine public support and were not true representatives of the people.

Achakzai addressed the issue of the integration of FATA into Pakistan, describing it as a decision made hastily, which led to unrest in the region. He argued that the decision to merge FATA into the country was made without proper consultation and, as a result, areas like Bajaur and Khyber are now engulfed in conflict.

Referring to the state of democracy in Pakistan, he condemned the erosion of constitutional authority and called for a return to democratic principles. He also stated that as long as the resources of Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continue to be exploited by outsiders, the people of these regions would resist, and terrorism would persist.

Achakzai urged the government to grant the people of these regions their rightful share of resources and to ensure that they have an active role in decision-making processes. He stressed that Pakistan’s future depended on a fair and just political system where all communities are treated equally and constitutional rights are respected.

In his concluding remarks, he expressed his hope for the leadership of Pakistan, including Nawaz Sharif, to rise above party politics and work towards creating a fair electoral system that respects the voices of all Pakistanis.
