CM Balochistan and DG ISPR to Address Press Conference on Jaffer Express Incident

Islamabad:A crucial press conference will be held today at 3:30 PM in Islamabad, where Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, and Director General of ISPR, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, will provide a detailed briefing on the Jaffer Express incident and the subsequent rescue operation carried out by security forces.
The press conference will shed light on the events surrounding the Jaffer Express attack, where terrorists hijacked the train traveling from Quetta to Peshawar in Balochistan’s Bolan district on March 11. Security forces launched a swift operation, resulting in the elimination of 33 terrorists. Tragically, four FC personnel lost their lives in the firefight, and 21 innocent passengers were also killed by the terrorists.
Earlier, DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry had explained that on March 11, at around 1:00 PM, terrorists blew up a railway track near Bolan, then stopped the Jaffer Express and took passengers hostage. He confirmed that the terrorists were in contact with their facilitators in Afghanistan. Security forces swiftly launched an operation and rescued the hostages.
He further added that all 33 terrorists involved in the attack were killed, and Pakistani snipers took down the suicide bombers before they could carry out their attacks. He emphasized the professionalism of the armed forces, who prevented any suicide bomber from detonating.
Security sources revealed that the terrorists had used innocent women and children as human shields, while the hostages were divided into different groups. The clearance operation video shows Pakistani troops safely transferring the freed hostages to secure locations.
The press conference today will offer further insights into this tragic incident and the coordinated efforts by the security forces to neutralize the threat and rescue the hostages.
