Ayesha Takia’s Husband, Farhan Azmi, Faces Charges of Disturbing Peace in Goa, Actress Responds
In a recent development, the Goa police have filed a case against Bollywood actress Ayesha Takia’s husband, Farhan Azmi, for alleged public disturbance and creating a commotion. The incident occurred when Farhan Azmi, driving a luxury SUV, was reportedly stopped by locals for speeding. According to the police, Farhan Azmi contacted the authorities for assistance and allegedly threatened the locals, stating that he possessed licensed firearms.
The Goa police managed to control the situation at the scene, but a case was later filed at the Calangute Police Station against Farhan Azmi and others under charges of rioting and disturbing public peace. This legal action comes at a time when his father, Abu Azmi, a leader of the Samajwadi Party and Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, has faced severe criticism from right-wing Hindus for praising Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.
In response to the case against her husband, Ayesha Takia took to social media, expressing her frustration and claiming that Farhan Azmi was being targeted due to his Maharashtra roots. She alleged that her husband and son were harassed and threatened by goons for hours, and that the goons even attacked the police officers who were called for assistance. “My husband called the police for help, but instead of supporting him, a case was filed against him. They abused my husband and son, specifically targeting them because they are from Maharashtra,” she wrote.
Ayesha Takia further stated that they have CCTV footage of the incident, which she intends to share with the relevant authorities at the appropriate time.
Although Ayesha Takia has been away from the film industry for quite some time, she remains active on social media. Known for her role in Salman Khan’s hit film *Wanted*, Ayesha Takia, now Ayesha Farhan, has been living a quieter life since marrying Farhan Azmi in 2009, after converting to Islam. Farhan Azmi is a businessman with interests in the hotel industry and various other ventures.
