PTI Leaders Not Named in Interim Government’s Report on May 9 Violence

Islamabad: In the report submitted by the interim government’s cabinet committee regarding the alleged incitement to violence on May 9, 2023, the names of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and Deputy Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi have been notably absent.
The report, which was presented before the current federal cabinet, details the involvement of several PTI leaders in the attacks on military installations. While it includes accusations against PTI Chairman Imran Khan, accusing him of actively planning the May 9 incidents, neither Pervez Elahi nor Shah Mehmood Qureshi are mentioned.
Despite their absence from the report, both leaders continue to face multiple FIRs related to the May 9 events. The report highlights how numerous PTI leaders allegedly incited violence, describing it as an unprecedented assault on state institutions.
The omission of Pervez Elahi and Shah Mehmood Qureshi from the interim government’s report raises questions, especially as both are embroiled in legal battles related to the events of May 8.
