Former KPK CM Pervez Khattak Set to Make Political Announcement Amid Speculation of Joining JUI-F

Pervez Khattak, the former Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and a close ally of Imran Khan, who distanced himself from politics after his defeat in the general elections, is once again becoming active. He is set to make a significant political announcement on February 22 at a rally in Nowshera, where he may reveal his future political plans.
After his electoral loss, Khattak had expressed his desire to take a break from politics. However, in recent weeks, he has resumed his political activities, meeting with key figures and even receiving an offer to join the federal cabinet. Reports indicate that Khattak has also reconciled with his brother, Liaqat Khattak, after years of strained relations dating back to his tenure as CM. The two had previously been at odds, with their children even contesting against each other for provincial assembly seats.
Sources suggest that Pervez Khattak is now working with Liaqat Khattak, who is affiliated with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), and may join the party officially in the coming days. Despite speculation that his return could challenge PTI’s vote bank, political analysts believe Khattak’s re-entry may not have a significant impact on any political party, particularly PTI, which remains firmly under Imran Khan’s influence.
Local journalists, including Shahab Rehman from Nowshera, suggest that while Pervez Khattak still retains some influence in his hometown, particularly in Manki Sharif, his political sway has diminished. His upcoming rally is likely to provide clarity on his future course of action in the political landscape.
