PML-N Senior Leader Rana Sanaullah Responds to Army Chief’s Statement on Imran Khan’s Letter

Senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Rana Sanaullah, has stated that the Army Chief’s response should be understood as a clear answer to Imran Khan.

In an interview with a private TV channel, Rana Sanaullah, who is also an advisor to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, said that Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir gave a brief and clear response regarding the letter from the founder of PTI, Imran Khan. The Army Chief did not respond directly but answered questions from journalists instead.

Rana Sanaullah said that Imran Khan’s letter is merely a propaganda narrative against the military. He mentioned that through the letter, Imran Khan wanted to express views that he believes would be seen as propaganda against the army if stated directly.

He further explained that Imran Khan would try to portray himself as merely writing a letter, not engaging in propaganda. According to Rana Sanaullah, the Army Chief’s response should be seen as a straightforward answer to Imran Khan.

Rana Sanaullah emphasized that people understand Imran Khan’s tactics, and the letter doesn’t open any new doors for dialogue. He argued that Imran Khan has no intention of retracting his narrative against the army, as he did on May 9, nor is he willing to apologize or express regret.

He added that if Imran Khan had sent the letter to the Army Chief and refrained from releasing it to the media, he might have received a response. However, since the letter was already made public, it indicates that it was merely an attempt at propaganda.

It is important to note that on Thursday, Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir, in response to journalists’ questions, said that he had not received any letter. Even if he had received it, he would not have read it.

According to a statement by ISPR, General Asim Munir further stated, “If any letter is received, I will send it to the Prime Minister. All these letter matters are just tricks.”

The Army Chief also remarked that Pakistan is progressing well, and the country’s development is moving in the right direction.

The Army Chief did not name anyone directly, but his comments were made in reference to the claim by Imran Khan that he had sent three letters to the Army Chief regarding the political situation.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar had stated that as the former Prime Minister, Imran Khan wrote a letter to Army Chief General Asim Munir, urging him to reconsider the policies. However, he later mentioned in a private channel interview that Imran Khan had said he wrote the letter, but he had not yet read or seen the letter from the founder of PTI.
