FIFA Suspends Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Membership Again

Karachi:FIFA has once again suspended the membership of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF), citing the failure of the PFF to implement constitutional amendments that would ensure transparent and democratic elections and complete the normalization process as per FIFA’s established guidelines.

According to media reports, FIFA clarified that the suspension would remain in effect until the PFF Congress approves the constitutional amendments proposed by FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). This suspension has led to a ban on Pakistan’s teams from participating in international events, and the funding from FIFA to Pakistan will also be halted.

FIFA emphasized that the suspension will remain in place until PFF agrees to the proposed changes. Previously, FIFA had suspended the PFF in April 2021 when the Ashfaq Hussain group had seized the PFF offices. The suspension was lifted in June 2022.

FIFA and AFC had recommended specific amendments, particularly regarding the electoral process in the PFF’s constitution. However, these amendments were rejected by the PFF’s elected congress, leading to the current suspension.
