UK Police Arrest PTI Supporter Gulfam Hussain Kayani for Threatening Sharif Family on TikTok

Islamabad:Scotland Yard in the UK has arrested Gulfam Hussain Kayani, a supporter of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), for allegedly threatening Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, and other members of the Sharif family on TikTok. The arrest comes after Kayani reportedly posted a video on TikTok, threatening to blow up the Avenfield Apartments.
According to media reports, Gulfam Kayani, while addressing his followers on TikTok, warned that he would drag members of the Sharif family through the streets of London and take revenge on them if PTI’s founder and chairman, Imran Khan, were harmed in Pakistan. He also criticized Pakistan’s military leadership in his TikTok videos.
A week ago, a warrant for Gulfam Kayani’s arrest was issued in London, and on Saturday, Scotland Yard confirmed his detention. Reports indicate that Kayani was arrested at the gates of Avenfield Apartments in London on Friday night, immediately after Imran Khan was sentenced in a £190 million lawsuit. At the time of his arrest, Kayani was live on TikTok, interacting with his followers.
Khurram Butt, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Youth Wing in the UK, who had previously filed a petition against Imran Khan’s attempt to become Chancellor of Oxford University, had lodged a complaint with the police regarding Kayani’s threats. Butt claimed that he provided the police with nearly a dozen videos in which Kayani was making threats of murder, harassment, stalking, and inciting violence against PTI supporters.
Kayani reportedly stated that he was prepared to go to jail after causing harm to the Sharif family. He explicitly targeted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Nawaz Sharif, and other members of the family. Khurram Butt condemned these threats, stating that peaceful protests are acceptable, but threats of violence are not.
It was also revealed that Gulfam Kayani had previously been a supporter of PML-N but later joined PTI, where he became vocal in support of the party on social media. He had reportedly quit his job as a trained chef to focus on his TikTok activities.
