Petrol and Diesel Prices Expected to Increase from January 16, 2025
Islamabad:Petrol and diesel prices are expected to rise starting tomorrow, January 16, 2025. According to estimates, the price of petrol could increase by 3.53 rupees per liter, while diesel prices may go up by 3.66 rupees per liter for the next 15 days.
The anticipated increase in petroleum product prices is attributed to a rise in global oil prices due to U.S. sanctions on oil exports to China and India. The price of crude oil has surged past $81 per barrel, the highest since August 2024, driven by concerns over the impact of U.S. shipping restrictions on Russian oil supplies.
Industrial and official sources have indicated that a potential increase of 4.98 rupees per liter is being considered for kerosene oil, and 6.20 rupees per liter for light diesel oil (LDO). However, the final decision rests with the Ministry of Finance, which will make the final call based on further evaluations.
