University of Balochistan Staff Association Condemns Illegal Deductions and Delayed Salaries

Quetta:The Academic Staff Association of the University of Balochistan, led by President Professor Dr. Kaleemullah Baloch, Vice President Dr. Shabbir Ahmad Shahwani, General Secretary Fareed Khan Achakzai, Joint Secretary Madam Zahra Malghani, Press Secretary Rahmatullah Achakzai, Finance Secretary Professor Dr. Sahibzada Baz Muhammad Kakr, and Executive Members, including Arbab Raza Kasi, Madam Farhana Umar Magasi, Dr. Mohibullah Kakr, Dr. Gul Mohammad, and Masood Mandokhail, have issued a strong condemnation of the University administration’s actions.
In a joint statement, the association criticized the University of Balochistan for its failure to provide timely and complete monthly salaries and pensions to its faculty and staff, while simultaneously imposing illegal deductions on approved allowances. They pointed out that, despite being an autonomous institution, the university is unlawfully deducting funds in contradiction to decisions made by policy-making bodies.
The statement highlighted that no funds have ever been allocated for maintenance of the homes of faculty and officers residing in the university’s colony. Consequently, a decision was made in the policy-making bodies to let the residents of the colony take responsibility for their own maintenance and repairs, with a guarantee that no 5% deduction would be made for this purpose. However, the university administration has taken an illegal step by issuing a notification to impose deductions for maintenance and repairs, which the association strongly condemns.
The Academic Staff Association has demanded that the university administration revoke this illegal notification and ensure the timely and full payment of monthly salaries and pensions to the staff. They also urged the administration to take further steps to provide better facilities. If their demands are not met, the association warned that they would be forced to resort to protests.
