Ali Amin Gandapur and Bushra Bibi Flee to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as PTI Protesters Arrested in Islamabad
Islamabad:Following the intense crackdown on PTI protesters in Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and his wife, Bushra Bibi, have reportedly fled to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, escaping the ongoing police operation in the capital. Family sources have confirmed that Gandapur has safely arrived in his home province, while unconfirmed reports suggest that Bushra Bibi has also made her way there.
The government has claimed that both Gandapur and Bushra Bibi fled together in the same vehicle as the police operation to clear PTI protesters from various areas in Islamabad intensified. It is reported that the two leaders managed to escape as the authorities launched operations in the Red Zone, specifically near the Blue Area, where they were initially spotted in their vehicles along with a small group of PTI demonstrators.
**Escape Amid Clashes: PTI Supporters Abandon Vehicles**
As the operation began, PTI supporters in the vicinity abandoned their vehicles and fled towards residential areas, with several being detained by the police. Demonstrators were seen scattering across key areas, including Jinnah Avenue and Seventh Avenue, as they attempted to avoid arrest. Authorities have confirmed that many of the protesters have been taken into custody, though the exact number remains unclear.
A source close to the situation revealed that the escape of Gandapur and Bushra Bibi occurred swiftly, with reports suggesting that they left the Blue Area and headed towards Jinnah Avenue in the same vehicle. While the exact route they took is still uncertain, authorities are reportedly following up on leads regarding their whereabouts.
**Security Forces Continue to Maintain Presence in Islamabad**
Following the protests, security forces, including police and Rangers, have maintained a strong presence throughout Islamabad, particularly in the Red Zone and surrounding areas. Despite the dispersal of protesters, barricades and containers are still blocking several roads. Authorities have confirmed that no major disturbances have been reported since the escape of PTI leadership, although a heavy police presence continues to ensure order is maintained.
Police sources stated that they were able to stop the convoy of Ali Amin Gandapur’s security guards but were unable to prevent the escape of the key PTI figures, whose vehicle was pursued by security forces. Despite these efforts, both Gandapur and Bushra Bibi managed to evade capture and have since made their way to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
**Ongoing Investigation and Efforts to Apprehend Protest Leaders**
The government has not ruled out further actions to apprehend those involved in the violent protests, including high-profile PTI leaders. As part of their strategy, authorities are continuing their investigation into the origins of the unrest, and efforts are underway to track down all individuals who played a role in the disturbances.
As the situation unfolds, PTI’s leadership, including those who fled, faces growing pressure, with the government promising to take legal action against those responsible for instigating violence and disrupting public order.
