Discrimination and Harassment of Passengers at Quetta Airport Is a Moment for Reflection for the Government: HDP
Stopping Flights Despite NOCs Is a Blatant Misuse of Authority; Strict Action Should Be Taken Against Officials Involved: Statement

QUETTA (Daily Qudrat Quetta): The Hazara Democratic Party (HDP) has condemned the alleged discriminatory treatment of Hazara passengers by Special Branch officials at the airport and demanded an investigation into the matter and strict action against the officials responsible.
In a central statement, the party described the presence of Special Branch officials at the airport as illegal and an undue use of authority, saying that the alleged behaviour of these officials is causing difficulties for Hazara passengers who are registered with the UN refugee agency and wish to travel to Islamabad to give interviews regarding their cases.
According to the statement, the passengers concerned set out for travel after obtaining a formal No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Home Department, but despite this they face difficulties at the airport.
The Hazara Democratic Party claimed that due to the alleged interference of Special Branch officials, a number of individuals whose interviews were scheduled could not board their flights, and as a result were also deprived of giving their interviews at the appointed time.
The party demanded that a transparent investigation into the matter be conducted, strict action be taken against the officials responsible, and the relevant authorities take measures to ensure the safe, dignified and unobstructed travel of passengers.
