Pakistan Rejects Afghan Allegations, Urges Kabul to Dismantle Terrorist Sanctuaries

ISLAMABAD:Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has rejected allegations levelled by Afghan authorities against Pakistan, urging Kabul to eliminate terrorist sanctuaries on Afghan soil and prevent cross-border infiltration into Pakistan.

Speaking to the media, Chaudhry said the accusations against Pakistan were baseless and had no substance. He called on Afghanistan to take concrete measures to stop infiltration into Pakistan from its territory.

The federal minister said Pakistan had consistently advocated peace and stability in the region. However, he stressed that whenever aggression was imposed on the country, Pakistan had responded decisively.

He added that Pakistan’s armed forces remained fully prepared to respond to any form of aggression.

Chaudhry further stated that Pakistan had provided Afghanistan with what he described as concrete evidence of cross-border infiltration and terrorist activities originating from Afghan territory. He said the evidence had also been presented to Afghan representatives during negotiations held in Istanbul and Doha.

According to the minister, despite diplomatic engagements and negotiations, the Afghan interim government had failed to take effective measures to prevent infiltration into Pakistan.

He warned that if Afghan territory continued to be used for terrorist activities against Pakistan, the country would be entitled to take all necessary measures to protect its security.

The minister urged Afghan authorities to take effective action against terrorist elements and fulfil their responsibilities to prevent cross-border attacks.

Chaudhry reiterated that Pakistan remained committed to regional peace but would not compromise on its national security or tolerate continued infiltration and terrorist violence.
