LPG Prices Soar to Rs600 per Kilogram in Raiwind Amid Alleged Official Inaction

RAIWIND:Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices have reportedly surged to Rs600 per kilogram in Raiwind, placing an additional financial burden on low-income households and labourers amid allegations of unchecked overcharging by local shopkeepers.

According to a report by NNI, retailers in the city are allegedly selling LPG at significantly higher rates despite government claims that official prices have been reduced.

Residents said the official price of LPG was between Rs250 and Rs280 per kilogram, while consumers in Raiwind were being charged as much as Rs600 per kilogram.

The sharp increase has added to the difficulties faced by daily-wage workers and economically disadvantaged families already struggling with rising living costs.

Citizens also expressed concern over what they described as the district administration’s failure to take effective action against sellers charging excessive prices.

According to residents, repeated complaints have been lodged with the district administration and price control magistrates, but no significant action has reportedly been taken against the alleged violators.

Local residents and social groups have called on Lahore Deputy Commissioner and Raiwind Assistant Commissioner to take immediate notice of the situation and launch enforcement measures against retailers selling LPG above the prescribed rates.

They have urged the authorities to ensure compliance with official pricing regulations and provide relief to consumers affected by the alleged overcharging.

The reported price disparity has raised concerns over price monitoring and enforcement in Raiwind, with residents demanding swift action to prevent further exploitation of consumers.
