Easypaisa Highlights Key Security Measures to Protect Customer Accounts and Financial Transactions

ISLAMABAD: Easypaisa, a digital bank operating under the supervision of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), has reaffirmed that protecting customers’ accounts, personal information and financial transactions is one of its core responsibilities, stating that it has established a comprehensive system to strengthen security and prevent fraud.

According to Easypaisa, the bank follows the principle of “Trust by Design,” under which security, privacy and customer protection are incorporated into the development of its products and services from the earliest stages.

The bank said it had adopted multiple security measures to provide customers with safe and convenient digital banking services. These include one-time passwords (OTPs), biometric verification linked to the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), liveness detection and enhanced Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures.

These measures help verify customers’ identities, prevent unauthorised access and strengthen account security while maintaining convenience for users of digital banking services, the bank said.

Continuous Monitoring to Prevent Fraud

Easypaisa said it continuously monitors suspicious activities and alerts customers to potential security risks. These include failed login attempts, account access from unfamiliar devices, account or SIM transfers, unusual changes in location and high-risk financial transactions.

Through its monitoring systems and timely notifications, the bank aims to help customers remain aware of evolving fraud techniques and take appropriate measures to protect their accounts.

The bank also described financial information as highly sensitive and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high standards of data privacy and ethical data use.

Focus on Compliance and Risk Management

According to Easypaisa, continued cooperation with regulatory authorities and strict adherence to compliance, risk management and governance standards are central to strengthening customer protection and confidence in digital financial services.

The bank said it had also enhanced its Know Your Customer (KYC) and Know Your Business (KYB) procedures as part of its broader efforts to improve security and regulatory compliance.

Easypaisa added that it would continue investing in advanced security measures, fraud prevention capabilities and effective customer protection systems as digital financial services expand.

The initiative aims to provide millions of people across Pakistan with secure, reliable and resilient digital banking services while strengthening public confidence in the country’s digital financial ecosystem.
