Sher Afzal Marwat Says Imran Khan Can No Longer Unite PTI Amid Deepening Internal Divisions

ISLAMABAD:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Sher Afzal Marwat has said that decades of internal differences within the party have turned into hostility, adding that even Imran Khan may not be able to reunite the party if he comes out of prison.

Speaking on ARY News, Marwat said that differences within PTI had persisted for the past 25 years and had never been fully resolved. He argued that the party’s internal divisions had now reached a stage where no single leader could bring everyone together.

Commenting on Barrister Gohar’s statements that the party remained united and steadfast, Marwat said that while some leaders continued to express their commitment, the party’s organisational structure had weakened significantly.

He said internal factionalism and divisions had caused PTI more damage than its political opponents, adding that the party leadership had never seriously addressed the growing differences among its members.

Marwat maintained that if the party’s leadership had been entrusted to more politically astute individuals who understood ground realities, the current situation might have been avoided.

He also criticised the alleged social media campaigns against PTI leaders, saying such campaigns were often launched at the behest of certain individuals within the party.

Referring to remarks by the party’s secretary-general comparing members of the National Assembly to “snakes and their offspring,” Marwat questioned the authority under which such statements were made, saying they were bound to provoke a reaction.

### PTI Lawmakers Demand Greater Autonomy

Marwat said PTI lawmakers had endured considerable hardships over the past two years, including business losses and personal sacrifices for standing by Imran Khan.

He alleged that there was no transparent merit-based system for appointing ministers and advisers, claiming that a group of six or seven individuals had monopolised access to Imran Khan and made decisions that were subsequently imposed on the wider party.

According to Marwat, members of the National Assembly had sent a clear message that they intended to make their own decisions in the future, as the existing leadership’s decisions had alienated party workers.

He added that lawmakers now wanted their negotiations to be conducted through Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.

Marwat described this development as a sign of distrust in Sohail Afridi’s government and the party leadership, which he accused of making flawed decisions.

### Marwat Predicts Further Rift Within PTI

The PTI lawmaker also predicted that the party’s central leadership might eventually distance itself from certain YouTubers associated with the party’s political narrative.

He said the leadership could soon issue a statement declaring that PTI had no connection with particular YouTubers or that any previous association had been terminated.

Marwat’s remarks highlight the growing concerns over internal factionalism, leadership disputes and decision-making within PTI, as disagreements among party leaders and lawmakers continue to pose challenges to organisational unity.
