Maryam Nawaz says her services to Punjab recognised globally

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said the province has recognised her services globally, adding that she has turned the dream of homeownership into reality for deserving people instead of making unrealistic promises.

As per reports, while addressing officers of the Sindh Administrative Service in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz said the country had given them respect and identity, and they remained indebted to Pakistan.

She described administrative service officers as a source of pride and said she worked alongside them as part of a team every day.

The chief minister said the office of the chief minister was not merely about travelling in an official vehicle, stressing that public service remained her top priority.

Moreover, she said she began each day determined to serve the people despite various challenges and did not spend a minute away from public service during her routine work. She added that she made decisions daily to promote public welfare.

Maryam Nawaz said attending the office, marking attendance, and signing easy files while avoiding difficult tasks did not count as proper service.

She also remarked that some ministers in her own cabinet invited people to their doorsteps but later forgot about them.

She said anyone holding public office must set aside personal interests and prioritise the needs of the people. The chief minister added that she had never faced any major difficulty in handling government affairs in Punjab.

Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Scheme Under Strict Monitoring
Highlighting the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar housing scheme, Maryam Nawaz said she had ensured that deserving families could fulfil their dream of owning a home.

She said a proper monitoring and accountability mechanism had been established to ensure the scheme’s success. She also added that loans for house construction were released in instalments at different stages, with construction work inspected at every stage.

Therefore, Maryam Nawaz further claimed that she had never appointed any officer on recommendations, maintaining that merit had been ensured in appointments across the province.
