Support for Terrorist Backers Not Expected from a Senior Politician Like Maulana Fazlur Rehman: Maryam Nawaz

LAHORE (Qudrat Daily) — Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said that from a senior politician like Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who himself has been a victim of terrorism, support for those backing terrorism was not expected. Instead of holding accountable those responsible for ruining Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through incompetence, inefficiency, and corruption, speaking in their support is extremely regrettable.
In a statement issued on the social media platform X, Maryam Nawaz said that those in whose support statements are being issued should be asked whether, in 13 years, they attended even a single martyr’s funeral. According to her, these people gave shelter to terrorists, nurtured them, and provided resources, safe havens, and the province’s land to attack Pakistan.
Maryam Nawaz said that these are the same people who piled up heaps of incompetence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, destroyed the lives of the people, and consigned them to terrorism. According to her, the province’s precious resources were spent on sit-ins and protests, while 13 precious years were wasted on corruption and incompetence.
The Punjab Chief Minister said that the words used by Maulana Fazlur Rehman about the military commander who led the country to a historic victory in the battle for truth and under whose leadership Pakistan was honored with the protection of the Two Holy Mosques have grieved the heart of every patriotic Pakistani.
She said that Pakistan Army officers and soldiers are still sacrificing their lives for the elimination of terrorism. Every day, the beloved son of some mother, the brother of some sister, and someone’s husband comes home wrapped in the green crescent flag. Instead of paying tribute to these martyrs and standing with the army, supporting those who create obstacles in the way of eliminating terrorism is unbecoming of Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Maryam Nawaz said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s party has itself suffered the wounds of terrorism, and his colleagues have given sacrifices, but those in whose support he stands today used to employ extremely indecent language and make personal attacks against them in the past.
She said that it is beyond her understanding for victims of terrorism to stand with those who back terrorism.
At the end of her statement, Maryam Nawaz said that PTI itself is responsible for the end of its own government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The words used by Maulana Sahib about the military commander who led the country to a historic victory in the battle for truth and under whose leadership Pakistan was honored with the protection of the Two Holy Mosques have grieved the heart of every patriotic Pakistani.
Pakistan Army officers and soldiers are still taking bullets to their chests to eliminate the scourge of terrorism. Every day, the beloved son of some mother, the brother of some sister, and someone’s husband comes home wrapped in the green crescent flag. Instead of saluting the blood of these martyrs and standing with your army, supporting those who create obstacles in the way of eliminating terrorism is unbecoming of you.
Your party has itself suffered the wounds of terrorism; your colleagues have given sacrifices. And those in whose support you stand today used to employ extremely indecent language and make personal attacks against you in the past. It is beyond at least my understanding for victims of terrorism to stand with those who back terrorism.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, no one other than PTI itself is responsible for the end of its own government.
