Who Walked Away from Negotiations and Why? Asks PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has questioned who walked away from the negotiation table and why, saying that the central issue was not whether Murad Saeed or someone else intervened in the process.

Speaking to journalists at Parliament House, Barrister Gohar said he had approached National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq to seek protection for his fellow parliamentarians.

He said the two sides had managed to sit at the negotiation table after considerable difficulties, but the process had subsequently stalled.

“Whether Murad Saeed or someone else intervened is not the question. The real question is who walked away from the negotiation table and why,” the PTI chairman said.

Barrister Gohar alleged that the government had arrested the chief minister, the speaker and other members, raising questions about its commitment to the dialogue process.

He asked who had brought the people accompanying him to the negotiations and said the draft prepared during the talks contained five clauses.

According to him, the other side walked away from the negotiations when the discussion reached the fourth clause. He accused the authorities of treating Khyber Pakhtunkhwa unjustly.

Imran Khan Has Authority to Nominate KP Chief Minister

The PTI chairman maintained that only party founder Imran Khan had the authority to nominate a new chief minister for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said Sohail Afridi would remain chief minister as long as Imran Khan wished, reaffirming the party founder’s authority over the nomination.

PTI Supports Dialogue, Calls for Action Against Terrorists

Barrister Gohar said the government’s willingness to discuss negotiations was a welcome development and stressed that dialogue should take place under all circumstances.

He emphasised that negotiations were necessary to address political differences and move the process forward.

The PTI chairman also stated that terrorists, wherever they were operating, were enemies of the country and called for action against them.

He reiterated that the negotiation process should not be abandoned and urged the relevant sides to address the issues that had led to the breakdown of talks.
