Strict Conditions Imposed for Restoration of Disconnected Sui Gas Connections

ISLAMABAD: The government has introduced new conditions for the restoration of Sui gas connections that have remained disconnected for more than one year, depriving affected consumers of access to cheaper gas tariffs.

Under the new policy, the LNG tariff will apply to restored gas connections, including domestic connections, as well as those of all other categories of consumers.

According to the new conditions, consumers will be able to restore their disconnected gas connections by paying the prescribed reconnection fee. However, once restored, these connections will be billed under the LNG tariff rather than the cheaper gas tariff.

The policy is expected to increase the financial burden on consumers seeking to reactivate gas connections that have remained disconnected for an extended period.

The new conditions mean that consumers who have had their gas connections disconnected for more than a year may face higher gas bills following restoration, as they will no longer be eligible for the cheaper tariff applicable to certain existing connections.
