PTI Vows Strong Protest Against Emergency in KP, Says Barrister Gohar

ISLAMABAD:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has strongly opposed the proposed imposition of an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, vowing that his party will stage a strong protest against the move.

Speaking to the media at Parliament House, Barrister Gohar urged both houses of Parliament to reject the resolutions scheduled to be presented on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

He argued that dismissing a democratically elected provincial government through such measures would undermine democracy and the Constitution. He also warned that the move could weaken the national narrative against terrorism.

The PTI chairman declared that the imposition of an emergency or governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was unacceptable to his party. He further questioned the government’s position, asking why an emergency should not also be imposed in Balochistan if the government’s argument was valid.

Barrister Gohar reiterated that PTI remained willing to engage in dialogue for the restoration and protection of the Constitution and democracy in the country.

Referring to recent remarks by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the PTI chairman said he would provide a detailed response but acknowledged that Naqvi had played a constructive role in working with him.

He added that he would disclose certain internal details on the assembly floor, arguing that some information had previously become public that should have remained confidential.

Barrister Gohar said he believed the party also had the right to inform the public about what had transpired behind closed doors. He suggested that only a few individuals were fully aware of the facts, adding that the complete truth was ultimately known to Allah.

The PTI chairman’s remarks come amid growing political tensions over the proposed emergency measures in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the future of the provincial government.
