Imposition of Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Is Nothing Unusual; Serious Questions Are Being Raised Over Provincial Government’s Performance: Captain (Retd.) Abdul Khaliq Achakzai

Quetta (Daily Qudrat Quetta): Speaker Balochistan Assembly Captain (Retd.) Abdul Khaliq Khan Achakzai has said that the imposition of Governor’s Rule is a complete administrative and constitutional procedure and part of the Constitution of Pakistan; therefore, declaring it an unconstitutional move or an unusual matter is not correct at all. He clarified that where a provincial government fails to perform its duties effectively, Governor’s Rule can be considered in accordance with constitutional requirements.
The Speaker Balochistan Assembly further said that under the current circumstances, serious questions are being raised over the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s performance and its ability to run governmental affairs, and that matter should be viewed in a constitutional and legal context rather than being made merely a subject of political criticism. To deal with a serious scourge like terrorism, it is imperative for the provincial and federal governments to be mutually coordinated, but when a provincial government demonstrates non-cooperation in such delicate circumstances, considering a constitutional step like Governor’s Rule becomes unavoidable. He recalled that Governor’s Rule was also imposed in Balochistan in 2013, therefore talking about Governor’s Rule while remaining within constitutional limits is neither unusual nor extraordinary.
