Federal Cabinet Considers Emergency in KP Under Article 232 Amid Security Concerns

ISLAMABAD:The federal cabinet has reportedly discussed several proposals regarding the possible imposition of an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following reports from intelligence agencies about the province’s security situation.
According to sources, one proposal calls for imposing an emergency across the province under Article 232 of the Constitution, citing security concerns.
Another proposal suggests separately reviewing administrative arrangements in 12 districts affected by unrest. Under the reported plan, the federal government would take control of eight districts in the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), along with Dera Ismail Khan, Lakki Marwat, Karak and Kohat.
### Governor May Be Given Executive Powers
Sources further claim that a decision has been made to assign the powers of the provincial chief executive to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi.
The federal cabinet is expected to consider the proposals in light of recommendations from the Ministry of Law and Justice and the Ministry of Interior.
However, the reported proposals and the alleged decision regarding the governor’s executive powers have not been independently confirmed. An official announcement would be required to establish whether the measures have been formally approved.
