Junaid Akbar Rejects Threats of Governor’s Rule in KP, Says PTI Will Stand Firm

PESHAWAR:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of the National Assembly Junaid Akbar has rejected threats of governor’s rule or an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying the party’s politics is not driven by the pursuit of power.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, Akbar said PTI was prepared to face governor’s rule or an emergency, but warned that those initiating such measures might struggle to bear the consequences. He also described Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi as the province’s most popular leader.

Akbar said that since Afridi had refused to allow people to be displaced, even at the risk of endangering his position and political future, people across the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had rallied behind him.

He further claimed that public anger against the ruling authorities could threaten their hold on power.

### PTI Rejects Viral Videos as Fake

Addressing reports of internal differences within the party and videos circulating on social media, Akbar claimed that videos allegedly showing PTI members of the provincial assembly were fabricated using artificial intelligence.

He urged the public not to believe the videos, describing them as completely fake.

Akbar maintained that all PTI MPAs remained united behind Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, stressing that the party stood with him in complete agreement and solidarity.

He alleged that the circulation of such videos reflected the government’s concerns and said these tactics would not weaken PTI’s unity or resolve.

The statements reflect PTI’s position on the reported possibility of emergency rule or governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The claims regarding the viral videos and the party’s internal unity have not been independently verified.
