Mohsin Naqvi Says Little Room Remains to Avoid Emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

ISLAMABAD:Federal Interior Minister Senator Mohsin Naqvi has indicated that there is little room left to avoid the imposition of an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying he made every possible effort to resolve the situation.
Speaking to journalists in Islamabad, Naqvi responded to a question about the possibility of imposing an emergency in the province by asking whether any room remained to avert such a move.
“You tell me how this situation can be avoided. We have no room left now,” he said.
The interior minister urged journalists to ask the relevant parties about the efforts he had made to find a solution, adding that they could explain the extent of his attempts to resolve the matter.
When asked whether reconciliation was still possible following Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Naqvi referred the question to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan.
Naqvi said Gohar could confirm how extensively he had tried to prevent the situation from reaching this point.
The interior minister reiterated that he had made every possible effort to avoid a decision to impose an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
His remarks come amid escalating political tensions between the federal government and the PTI-led provincial administration over security and governance in the province, as discussions continue over possible constitutional measures to address the situation.
