Large Convoys from Punjab Will Join Long March, Says Salman Akram Raja

PTI will not compromise on principles; party alleges crackdown and abductions of workers in Peshawar

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has said that large convoys from Punjab will participate in the party’s long march, adding that the party will not enter into any agreement that compromises its principles.

Speaking to the media at the Lahore High Court, Raja said the lives of ordinary citizens were of paramount importance to the party and that it would not support any course of action that resulted in the loss of innocent lives or forced people from their homes.

He said the PTI was prepared to face every hardship but would not abandon its principles.

Raja said that, as the party’s secretary general, he had numerous responsibilities, including overseeing the cases of PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi. He added that the party was mobilising its workers across Punjab to ensure a strong presence in the long march.

Commenting on the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the PTI leader claimed that the provincial government had effectively ceased to function and alleged that a deputy commissioner was refusing to comply with instructions.

He further alleged that PTI workers had faced severe action in Peshawar the previous day and that several party activists had been abducted. He condemned the alleged incidents and said the party would continue to stand by its position despite the challenges.

Accusing the authorities of allowing an atmosphere of authoritarianism to prevail in the country, Raja urged them to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could harm the public.

He reiterated that the PTI would remain steadfast in its political struggle and would not compromise on its principles.
