Imposition of Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Would Be a Robbery of Provincial Autonomy; Forcibly Imposed Unelected Government Should Be Immediately Ended: Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party Rally Resolutions

Zhob (Daily Qudrat Quetta) – On the occasion of the anniversaries of the Martyrs of Democracy of October 7, 1983, and the Martyrs of the Homeland of October 11, 1991, under the auspices of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, a central public meeting of the party was held at Baz Muhammad Shaheed Park, Zhob, organized by District Zhob and District Sherani. The resolutions of the rally were presented by the Central General Secretary of Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal.

Today’s grand and magnificent public meeting pays rich tribute to the Martyrs of Democracy of October 7, 1983 — Olasiyar Shaheed, Kaka Mehmood Shaheed, Dawood Shaheed, and Ramzan Shaheed — and the Martyrs of the Homeland of October 11, 1991 — Abdul Rahim Kiliwal Shaheed, Sabir Shah Shaheed, Habib-ur-Rahman Shaheed, Sahib Khan Shaheed, and Baz Muhammad Baz Shaheed — for their immortal sacrifices, and their national democratic political services will always be remembered.

1. Today’s grand and magnificent public meeting supports Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s long march for the restoration of the Constitution in the country, democracy, the return of the stolen public mandate, and the release of all political prisoners, including Imran Khan.

2. This public meeting warns against any unconstitutional action through governor’s rule or national emergency against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s elected assembly and government, which is the only provincial government in the country that has a genuine public mandate. Any such step would be considered a robbery of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa people’s right to rule and provincial autonomy, which could have extremely serious and disastrous consequences in the future.

3. Today’s grand meeting strongly condemns the state-proxy-imposed unrest, terrorism, dacoity, and official looting in South Pashtunkhwa and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and demands an end to the unrest continuing under official patronage.

4. Today’s meeting strongly condemns the closure of trade at the Durand Line crossing points for Pashtuns, the insecurity of Pashtuns’ property across the country, and the daily cancellation of identity cards by the hundreds, and demands the restoration of trade for Pashtun traders and the provision of security for their property.

5. Today’s meeting considers the immediate end of the unelected government forcibly imposed on the entire country on February 8, 2024, and clean, transparent general elections free of agency interference through an independent and autonomous Election Commission as the solution to the problems, and, considering the trampling of the people’s authority as a path to ruin, demands its end.

6. Today’s grand meeting strongly condemns the destruction of peace through government proxies in the province’s Pashtun districts — Quetta, Ziarat, Harnai, Duki, Pishin, Qila Abdullah Khan, Pishin, Sherani, and Zhob — the rendering of roads unsafe, and the deliberate destruction of peace for official objectives, and demands that government proxies be ended without delay and peace be established across the province and all districts.

7. Today’s grand public meeting expresses its grave concern over the country’s political crisis and regards the imposed clique as an open insult to the public mandate, and holds that political negotiations without meeting and consulting Imran Khan, the founding leader of the party holding the country’s real mandate, will be futile. This meeting demands that negotiations with Imran Khan’s meeting and consultation can be fruitful.

9. Today’s grand meeting expresses its grave concern and anger over the ongoing tension between Afghanistan and Pakistan and demands that matters between two sovereign and equal countries be resolved through mutual understanding under the political principle of peaceful coexistence.

10. This meeting believes that the 26th and 27th Constitutional Amendments were passed by a parliament formed through Form 47 in an environment of coercion, pressure, and force. This meeting rejects these amendments and demands that new, transparent, and fair elections be held under an independent and autonomous Election Commission. The Constitution should be restored, the people’s rule should be recognized, the autonomy of parliament should be restored, and the country should be recognized as a true democratic federation of equal nations.

11. This meeting believes that as a result of the terrorism imposed on the Pashtun homeland over the past two decades and the so-called war against terrorism, thousands of Pashtuns became victims of death, while the economy, society, and way of life of Pashtuns suffered irreparable damage. This situation is a branch of state policies and the political ambitions of undemocratic forces. This meeting demands that the state establishment review its policies, end interference in politics, restore the Constitution, recognize the people’s right to rule, and ensure the people’s authority over national resources while taking effective measures to permanently curb and end terrorism.

12. This meeting demands that the government ensure the protection of life and property and peace in the districts of Zhob and Sherani, while the Quetta-to-Zhob and Zhob-to-Dera Ismail Khan highway should be made safe for travel day and night.
