Govt launches national housing policy 2026 to promote affordable housing

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has formally launched the National Housing Policy 2026 to provide affordable, accessible housing to citizens, particularly low-income and homeless families.
In a report, Federal Minister for Climate Change Dr Musadik Malik said at the launch ceremony in Islamabad that the new housing policy provides a comprehensive, practical framework to address the housing needs of disadvantaged and low-income segments of society.
He said the policy would make it easier for ordinary citizens to own homes and provide a structured approach to addressing the country’s housing challenges.
Moreover, he also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to using all available resources to implement the policy effectively. Dr Musadik Malik said the initiative would not only help address the housing shortage but also support sustainable and balanced urban development.
The federal minister added that residential units built under the project would be eco-friendly and designed to meet modern requirements. He added that the housing initiative would also consider the potential impacts of climate change.
