Indian Singer Mika Singh Once Again Praises Pakistan and Its People

NEW DELHI: Indian singer Mika Singh has once again spoken warmly about Pakistan and its people, questioning why some Indians view Muslims in Pakistan negatively while having a positive perception of Muslims in Dubai.
Speaking on the podcast Baatein Dil Se with Navika Kumar, Mika Singh discussed music, cross-border fans and his experiences in Pakistan.
“Pakistan is not bad, and the people of Pakistan are not bad either. I have always been treated extremely well in Pakistan,” the singer said.
Mika Singh questioned the contrasting attitudes toward Muslims in Pakistan and Dubai, saying he had never understood why Indians had a negative perception of Pakistani Muslims while considering Muslims in Dubai to be good people.
Recalling his visit to Pakistan in 2019, Mika said he witnessed Muslims helping maintain and clean Sikh holy sites, including gurdwaras.
He said the presence of sacred Sikh sites such as Nankana Sahib and Panja Sahib was one of the reasons for his special attachment to Pakistan.
Discussing Pakistani artists visiting India and Indian artists performing in Pakistan, Mika said the issue should not necessarily be given a political colour.
Mika Singh had performed at a wedding in Karachi in August 2019. His appearance sparked strong criticism in India amid heightened tensions between the two countries. He later apologised, after which the ban imposed on him in India was lifted.
The singer’s latest remarks have once again drawn attention to cultural and artistic ties between the people of Pakistan and India.
