Those Who Pick Up Guns and Hide in the Mountains Are Not the Guarantee of a Bright Future — Those Who Hold Books Are: CM Mir Sarfraz Bugti

Terrorism Can Be Countered Not Merely by Force, But by Providing Knowledge, Awareness, and Opportunities for Development

Quetta (Daily Qudrat Quetta) — The Government of Balochistan, under the Education Endowment Fund, has sought applications from candidates this year for a PhD scholarship program at more than 100 distinguished universities worldwide. Under the program, talented youth of Balochistan will be provided opportunities for higher education and research at leading universities of the world. According to a statement by the Government of Balochistan, a series of providing scholarships to 10 talented candidates from Balochistan every year for PhD education at distinguished universities abroad has been started. The purpose of this initiative is to provide the province’s youth access to higher education, research, and modern academic opportunities and to prepare them for global competitiveness.

According to Chief Executive Officer of the Balochistan Education Endowment Fund, Khalid Mandai, last year 6 talented candidates from Balochistan secured PhD scholarships at distinguished universities in various countries and left to pursue higher education. Among them, Farzana Anwar from Quetta was awarded a scholarship in Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of Leeds, UK; Akbar Jan from Barkhan in Food Spoilage and Food Safety at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark; Imran Khan from Qila Saifullah in Agriculture, Forest Biology and at the University of Alberta, Canada; Humaira Younis from Kohlu in Politics and International Studies at the University of Queensland, Australia; Mahnoor Syed from Kharan in Gender Parity at the University of Bristol, UK; while Abdul Qahir from Kalat was awarded a scholarship for PhD in the field of Structure at the University of Malaya, Malaysia.

Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti, expressing pleasure over the launch of the world-class PhD scholarship program, said that this program is a harbinger of a bright future for Balochistan. The journey of taking young people to the world’s best universities has begun, and this is in fact a journey to change Balochistan’s future. The Chief Minister said that Balochistan’s youth will not lag behind the world in search of opportunities, and the world’s best universities will become the destiny of Balochistan’s youth. He said that these are not just scholarships but new doors of hope, knowledge, and development for Balochistan’s coming generations.

Mir Sarfraz Bugti said that terrorism can be countered by providing knowledge, awareness, and opportunities for development to the youth. Balochistan’s future belongs not to those who pick up guns and hide in the mountains, but to those youth who hold books and prove their mettle in the fields of knowledge and research at the world’s distinguished universities.

Chief Minister Balochistan expressed the resolve that the government’s aim is to take Balochistan’s youth to the world’s distinguished universities and secure them a prominent place on the global map of knowledge and research. He said that providing world-class opportunities for higher education to talented youth is an investment in Balochistan’s human resources, the fruits of which will reach coming generations.
