Condemnation of Unwarranted Criticism and Attempts at Cheap Fame on Social Media; Allegations Are Misleading: WASA Spokesperson
Citizens' Dues Worth Millions of Rupees Are the Cause of the Institution's Financial Woes; Impression of Leaving Quetta at the Mercy of the Tanker Mafia Rejected

Quetta (Daily Qudrat Quetta) — We strongly condemn the attempt to gain cheap fame by levelling unwarranted criticism against WASA’s performance on a social media page. WASA authorities have completely rejected the allegations levelled by a so-called “cleaner” on social media, terming them contrary to facts and misleading. According to the WASA spokesperson, the allegations regarding the appointment of a non-cadre officer for one year and the water crisis are baseless and an attempt to damage the institution’s credibility.
The spokesperson clarified that the water shortage in Quetta is a longstanding and complex problem, the primary causes of which include the continuous decline in the underground water level, increasing population, and limited resources. Despite these challenges, WASA is taking vigorous measures to supply water to citizens within its available resources.
He further said that giving the impression that the city has been left at the mercy of the tanker mafia is not correct. WASA is continuing water supply in various areas under a regular schedule, while tanker service is also being provided on an emergency basis.
The WASA spokesperson also expressed concern that a large number of consumers are not paying their water dues, due to which the institution is facing severe financial difficulties. According to him, citizens owe millions of rupees in outstanding dues, which directly affects the improvement of the system and water supply projects.
He said that despite these difficult circumstances, WASA employees are performing their duties well within limited resources and are constantly striving to improve the water supply in the city.
WASA authorities made clear that instead of subjecting the institution’s performance to unwarranted criticism, citizens must also realize their responsibilities, especially by ensuring payment of dues, so that the water supply system can be made more effective.
