Government Raises Prices of Petroleum Products

Islamabad (Qudrat): Ogra has announced an increase in the prices of petroleum products. According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been raised by Rs 2.10 and the price of diesel by 30 paisas per litre. The new price of petrol has been fixed at Rs 392.76 and that of high-speed diesel at Rs 399.64.

The new prices will take effect from midnight tonight and remain in force until 5 October.

On Friday, crude oil prices fell in international markets, while gold, silver and wheat showed an upward trend. According to Bloomberg, US West Texas Intermediate futures settled $3.09 lower at $89.78 a barrel, while Brent crude futures closed $2.34 lower at $99.97 a barrel. Spot gold rose $5 to $4,182.62 an ounce, while silver gained $0.48 to $61.62 an ounce. Among agricultural commodities, wheat rose $4.50 to $687.25 a bushel, while corn fell $2 to $500 a bushel. Cotton declined by $0.14, while live cattle recorded an increase of $0.48.
